This is a procedural fantasy hut generator, made with Geometry Nodes, with a lot of available parameters to customize the hut and create very different variations. To use it, you can append the hut blend file to your project. Alternatively, you can add it to your assets by storing it in your desired folder and adding the path in Blender Preferences>File Paths>Asset Libraries.

Here are some ideas on different huts you can create, which I’ll include in an alternative file also available for download:

Customization

I’ve added descriptions to the parameters that are not self-explanatory, so you can hover over them to check that. Here’s a quick overview of the customization:

Resolution

You can adjust the resolution of the various elements of the hut to optimize it for your project. You can set it to high resolutions for close-up shots and low resolutions for far-away shots:

Tips

On Cycles, if you plan on using the hut’s foliage (vines and/or grass), I recommend setting the Transparent Max Bounces in the Render Properties to 24-32:

Regarding performance, unfortunately the Scene Time node (necessary for the animations of the vines, the grass, and the smoke) has a brutal impact on fps that I’ve not been able to solve. Apparently, using this node forces the whole node tree to recalculate on each frame, even if you only use it at the very end of the tree or have it totally disconnected.

If you are not going to use any animations, or you want to disable them temporarily before the final render, you can mute the Scene Time node to get rid of the low fps. Look for the orange frame in the Geometry Nodes editor, select the Scene Time node, and press “M”.

This problem might also trigger even if the Scene Time node is muted and you animate the hut (for example, animating the overall object position). So, as an alternative solution, I’ve also added the option to Bake the hut. To do that, look for the green frame inside the Geometry Nodes editor, and click “Bake” (you can use “Still” if you don’t need animations, or “Animation” otherwise).
